Tree Width

An ideal balanced seat for eventers, the Phoenix Close Contact Monoflap Saddle by Henri de Rivel features a forward flap, molded knee roll and stationary thigh blocks. The monoflap design of this saddle provides a close feel of the horse’s back, while the soft covered leather offers just enough grip and is known for its stability and comfort. Not only does the single flap feature provide increased close contact feel between the ride and horse but it also provides a lighter weight saddle. The (IGP) Interchangeable Gullet Plate system allows riders to quickly and easily change the metal plate in the head of the saddle tree which allows the saddle to be used on various horses. Gullet plates are sold separately in sizes Narrow, Regular, Medium, Medium Wide, and Extra Wide. All Henri de Rivel IGP saddles come equipped with a regular width gullet.

Love this saddle!

I have had this saddle for over a year now. I am using it daily, riding up to three horses. It has held up nicely, although the dye of the tougher leather strip that is sewn to the bottom of the flaps has rubbed off due to the stirrup leather rubbing there. It does not take away from the functionality of this saddle though. It is comfortable, secure, and lightweight. I can ride all three phases of a horse trial in it. It fits a lot of horses fairly well (with the help of adjustable gullets and halfpads, if needed), athough I agree that a fitted saddle is the best option if possible.

Great Saddle at a Great Price!

After some saddle fitting issues with my horse I decided to go back to the HDR brand but I didn't want my saddle to look "cheap". This model does a great job of providing soft leather that gives me the professional look I'm going for.
